Trend Alert: Instagram Your Wedding

We all love Instagram right? It’s all the rage and where everyone is hanging out these days.

Well I’m loving how people are using the format to capture out of the box photos from their wedding day.

It’s all about the hashtag really. If you create a unique hashtag and share it well with your family and friends, you will end up with a bounty of fun images.

One of my favourite weddings where this idea has been used fabulously is Mr & Mrs Ryan at Trewlaney Farm in Mudgee. How beautiful is Mrs Ryan in the above photo captured by Briar Stanley, aka. Sunday Collector?

Mr & Mrs Ryan adopted the hash tag #bonandol, and a quick look on Instagram serves up close to 300 fun images from their wedding day.

There are a few important things to remember if you want to jump on the Instagram train for your wedding day:

• Pick a hashtag – make it a good one relevant to you and your day, but also check it is unique and isn’t being used on Instagram to serve another purpose.

• Promote your hashtag – make sure you share it with your family and friends. Make up a cute little sign at your ceremony, print it on the program, list it on your menus. The more you promote it, the more people will use it.
